Registered Veterinary Nurse - General (12 Month FTC)
Scarsdale Vets, Pride Veterinary Centre, Derby, East Midlands
Discipline: General
Full Time
Up to £28,927 per annum

Pride Veterinary Referrals at Scarsdale Vets, a part of IVC Evidensia, is looking for a dedicated Veterinary Nurse to join our dynamic nursing team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is perfect for those seeking to enhance their clinical nursing skills, offering the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility alongside a supportive and experienced team.

Unparalleled clinical development opportunities

In this varied and rewarding role, you will split your time between theatre, anaesthesia, and inpatient care. On theatre days, you will work closely with our primary care team, gaining hands-on experience in advanced anaesthesia for a wide range of procedures including BOAS, orthopaedics, and laparoscopy surgeries. You will also receive training to carry out Schedule 3 procedures, enhancing your skill set.

In the wards, you will provide gold standard care to a mix of first opinion and referral patients. You will be fully supported in developing your nursing skills, including urinary catheter care, feeding tube management, CRI’s, physiotherapy, and CPR. This is an excellent opportunity to advance your expertise and contribute to exceptional patient care.

Work with cutting-edge facilities

Pride Veterinary Referrals is equipped with cutting-edge facilities and advanced diagnostic tools, ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care. With 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres, a comprehensive imaging suite (CT, MRI & digital X-ray), 3 ultrasound rooms, an endoscopy suite, a hydrotherapy pool and treadmills, and dedicated chemo & radio-iodine treatment rooms, our facilities provide an exceptional care environment.

Our large and experienced team ensures access to leading-edge specialist knowledge, offering you an advanced and varied caseload that promotes the development of your clinical skills. While we prioritise clinical excellence and gold-standard patient care, we maintain a friendly and supportive culture within the team.

Applicant requirements

We are especially keen to support newly qualified nurses or primary care nurses who are eager to expand their skills and knowledge. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and committed to learning and developing their skills.

Working pattern

The working hours for this role are flexible, typically falling between 8am and 7pm, with some twilight shifts required. This adds up to an average of 38 hours per week over 4 days. You will be part of the weekend rota, with a commitment to working one full weekend every six weeks (7:45am to 6pm). Additionally, there is a bank holiday rota, where you’ll be expected to work one or two bank holidays each year. You will also participate in the night cover and on-call rota, with further details to be provided during the interview.

This is a 12-month fixed-term position.
