Within this role, you will gain significant experience supporting a lead testifying expert on a variety of dispute proceedings. Types of work include:
* Arbitration
* Adjudication
* Mediation reports
* General claims and disputes advisory work
Responsibilities and Duties
Your primary role will be to support the lead delay expert in conducting forensic analysis related to ongoing disputes. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
* Compiling as-built progress data
* Investigating causes of delay
* Developing factual chronologies of events
Working with the expert, you will develop your skills with the goal of eventually performing the lead delay expert role.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Background in construction engineering, planning, or project management with exposure to complex projects and relevant software
* Ability to understand dispute documents, claims, and submissions
* Knowledge of delay analysis methods, including the Society of Construction Law Delay and Disruption Protocol
* Skills in forensic investigation and analysis of programmes using industry-standard software
* Experience in detailed investigation and analysis across various construction projects
* Strong presentation skills, both written and oral, with clear documentation and referencing
* Ability to manage time and work within constraints, delivering quality work on schedule
* Receptive to constructive criticism, driven to develop skills, and committed to high standards
* Confidence in engaging with solicitors and clients after gaining experience
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
* Degree in a relevant subject, such as construction or civil engineering
* Membership or progress towards membership of a professional body (desirable)
* Familiarity with the Society of Construction Law Delay and Disruption Protocol
