Overview
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides safe and effective healthcare across Cheshire and beyond, including Leighton Hospital, Victoria Infirmary and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre. As part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP) we offer a range of community services. We are looking for a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to work within our paediatric team, primarily in clinic settings, supporting children and young people with a wide variety of speech, language and communication needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide assessment, diagnosis and appropriate speech and language therapy intervention for clients referred to the Service in line with RCSLT ‘Communicating Quality 3’.
* Manage a defined caseload independently.
* Prioritise tasks effectively and manage time with minimal support.
* Decide when to discontinue the management of a client and communicate reasons to relevant professionals and carers promptly.
* Identify the need for clinical support and advice and seek it from senior clinicians as appropriate.
* Work closely with agencies and colleagues to ensure comprehensive client management, including providing professional advice in reports for statutory assessments and undertaking annual reviews where requested.
* Provide appropriate information, advice and support to clients and their carers.
* Give and request second opinions when appropriate.
* Attend multidisciplinary meetings as required.
* Receive guidance on current practice from senior clinicians.
* Supervise Speech and Language Therapy students, assistants and volunteers as necessary.
* Provide training to others when appropriate.
* Participate in the development of innovative practice and activities designed to improve service provision.
* Develop clinical expertise under direction and in consultation with senior clinicians.
* Keep up to date with current clinical and technological advances.
Qualifications and Experience
• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with registration to work with children.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working in community and clinic settings, including experience with children of all ages and a range of speech, language and communication needs.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise caseloads effectively.
