Senior Electrical Engineer Contract Role!

About the Role
A leading building design practice is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join the team on a contract basis. This Senior Electrical Engineer role will support project delivery across the Midlands, Southwest, and Wales, working across a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, education, healthcare, transportation, defence, and energy.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will take a key role in delivering high-quality electrical building services designs while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and supporting junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a Senior Electrical Engineer responsible for understanding project briefs and delivering compliant designs
Design and specify electrical building services systems including power, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, and lightning protection
Produce and review detailed electrical calculations using Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, Excel, and in-house tools
Prepare technical specifications using NBS
Collaborate with international engineering teams where appropriate
Work closely with BIM teams using Autodesk Revit
Undertake site surveys, inspections, and monitor site works
Produce technical reports and maintain project documentation
Manage workload, budgets, and elements of project delivery
Review progress and report any changes in scope
Support the development and mentoring of junior engineers
Requirements
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline
Chartered Engineer (CIBSE or IET preferred)
Proven experience working as a Senior Electrical Engineer within a design consultancy or contractor design environment
Strong knowledge of electrical building services standards and regulations
Proficient in Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, and Microsoft Office
Understanding of energy reduction strategies, decarbonisation, and building performance
Strong report writing, communication, and client-facing skills
Ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and manage time and budgets effectively
