Senior Capital Actuary
Location: London
AXA XL is the Property & Casualty risk division of AXA, created from the acquisition of XL Catlin in 2018. We partner with mid-sized to multinational clients to take their business further, with more than 30 lines of business to offer solutions for existing and emerging risks. The key purpose of the role is to support the Head of Capital Modelling – Division in ensuring that the risk profile of the AXA XL Division is adequately modeled and communicated. This includes engagement with AXA Group and the ACPR on capital issues, such as the annual SCR assessment process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the development and maintenance of an internal capital model reflecting AXA Group standards, including parameterization, validation, and documentation.
2. Coordinate and run governance processes for the internal model.
3. Produce and present the XLB Standard formula (BSCR) and related analyses to senior management.
4. Be a subject matter expert on outwards reinsurance implementation in the capital model, including analysis of ceded structures.
5. Subject matter expert on the Reinsurance Credit risk module, liaising with teams across divisions.
6. Communicate methodologies and outputs to non-technical stakeholders.
7. Develop and optimize model outputs for key stakeholders.
8. Respond to queries regarding the capital or risk position of the division.
9. Provide capital modeling outputs for actuarial analyses and risk opinions.
10. Support other entities within AXA XL using model outputs.
11. Manage and develop three junior staff members.
You will report to the Head of Capital Modelling - Division.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
* Proven experience in capital modeling or similar simulation roles.
* Curious, innovative, and open to new ideas.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Highly numerate with a strong academic background.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* SQL and R coding skills are beneficial.
* Self-starter with good organizational skills.
