Offer description

Nursery Teacher for a Maintained Nursery School (0.2FTE) Brain Architect wanted! Come and shape young minds by stepping into a one day per week teacher post in a Maintained Nursery School (the jewel in the early years crown and wider school system). Kenilworth and Whitnash Nursery School are linked by Federation. They are both outstanding and innovative Maintained Nursery Schools, each with their own character. Both are led by an Executive Headteacher. Both Schools are inspired by the philosophy of Reggio Emelia and take part in action research to continue to refine and develop the educational offer for young children, adapting and responding to the needs of the communities, including the development of a holiday club for working families. A rare opportunity has arisen to join this exceptional team within a teaching capacity. The role will primarily be based at Kenilworth Nursery School but work will, at times, reach across the federation. This role would suit a highly experienced and ambitious early years teacher (must have QTS) who feels confident to develop a music and movement based offer. The applicant will be committed to early years education and the future direction of Maintained Nursery Schools as system leaders in birth to 5 provision, and will be committed to making sure we are the ‘right place at the right time’ for all children, including those with additional needs. The School focuses strongly on research based practice and there are excellent opportunities for CPD, including support to gain NPQ qualifications and opportunities to be part of DfE projects. Ideally the candidate will have an interest in developing their knowledge of the value of music and movement for 2-4 year olds, including system reflex based exercise, for which the school has a programme. The school is focused upon the education of children aged 12 months to 5 years and has developed a dynamic and bespoke curriculum and progression maps for learning behaviours. It is an interesting and cutting-edge phase to work within, where there is scope for a progressive offer for young children and to be part of a dialogue to shape future early years education. Come and make a difference! The school ‘puts staff first’ and upholds a strong commitment to work/life balance, taking care of those who take care of the children. Recently the schools have been case studied as Schools that achieve effective workload support and have a proactive caring ethos while maintaining high standards and outcomes. Ofsted recognised the school as a place “That opens children’s eyes to learning” and our work has been called “innovative and nationally significant.” We would welcome visits from prospective candidates with an opportunity to speak with the team and Executive Headteacher, Rachel Gillett.
