Job Title – Homeless Prevention Assistant
Location – Thurrock (hybrid working available)
Contract – Temporary
Hours – Full-time, 37 hours per week
Salary – £17.00 LTD / £13.15 PAYE per hour
Role Summary –
We are currently recruiting for a Homeless Prevention Assistant on behalf of a local authority in Thurrock. This role supports the Housing Solutions Service, with a focus on processing accommodation payments, resolving queries, and assisting the Temporary Accommodation team in meeting its legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Processing and monitoring payments and invoices for temporary accommodation
Acting as first point of contact for accommodation providers regarding payment queries
Liaising with internal departments including Finance, Revenues and Benefits, and Social Care
Supporting financial preparations at month- and year-end
Maintaining accurate data and reports using systems such as Oracle, NEC, Jigsaw, and Objective
Monitoring health and safety documentation and ensuring compliance
Providing administrative support including data entry, statistics, and letter/report writing
Assisting with FOI requests, councillor enquiries, complaints and general correspondence
Requirements:
Experience working in a financial or administrative setting, ideally within a local authority or housing provider
Knowledge of payment systems and financial processes
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to prioritise workloads and work independently
Understanding of housing and homelessness issues is desirable
