The Firm
The department
You will join a nationally recognised Public Sector team, ranked as Tier 1 in Chambers and Legal 500, advising organisations across the public sector including central and local government, the NHS, education, police authorities, housing providers, not-for-profit organisations and charities.
Purpose of job
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and friendly team, providing professional secretarial and administrative support to fee earners and the wider team, under the Head of Public Sector.
Responsibilities
* Administration including file opening/closing, preparing client care letters, client on-boarding, ID documentation, Lexcel compliance requirements and anti-money laundering procedures, expense claims, photocopying/scanning and invoicing.
* Client relationship administration, managing client instructions, and maintaining management spreadsheets and reports.
* Corresponding with clients, handling telephone enquiries, and resolving issues as they arise.
* Ensure electronic filing is up to date and assist with compliant file management.
* Proof reading, spelling and grammar checks.
* Produce correspondence and documents using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel to a high standard, in line with client and fee earner expectations.
* Format documents to Birketts LLP house style.
* Deal with land registry searches and preliminary title research.
* Promote technological solutions to improve team efficiency.
* Manage diary appointments and coordinate business development activities.

Qualifications and skills
* Excellent communication skills with a wide range of people.
* Positive and enthusiastic professional approach.
* Strong administrative and organisational abilities with attention to detail.
* Good IT skills; familiarity with Excel is desirable.
* Self-motivated with initiative and a willingness to learn.
* Typing speed of 50+ wpm.
* Solid knowledge of Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel; good spelling and punctuation.
