We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP Leeds. This on-site role is accessible via public transport and offers free parking.
Work Schedule and Compensation: The role requires working 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis, with an additional 15% allowance of basic salary, plus a paid on-call rota. Standard hours are 39 per week, Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00, and Friday to Sunday 08:00 - 16:00.
Role Overview: Electricians support the safe, compliant, and timely execution of planned and reactive maintenance within prisons, ensuring high standards of safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Performing planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
* Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
* Responding to breakdowns promptly under Safe Systems of Work.
* Fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems.
* Electrical installation activities following provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations.
* Testing and inspecting electrical installations as per current regulations.
* Monitoring and ordering critical spares for electrical services.
* Supporting local and business zero carbon initiatives.
* Ensuring H&S standards are met across the contract.
Unique Aspects: Testing and inspecting electrical installations in accordance with the 18th Edition IEE wiring regulations. Prison Security Clearance is required (Amey will assist with this process).
Candidate Requirements:
* Technical qualifications such as ECS Gold card, City & Guilds 2365, BTEC, NVQ Level 3, with AM2.
* Knowledge of BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition preferred.
* Experience in electrical maintenance, distribution, installation, and testing.
* Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Ability to work at heights and independently.
Upgrade sponsorship for 18th Edition if currently qualified in 17th Edition; additional training provided for fire alarm and CCTV systems is a plus but not essential.
