THE ROLE This position is within the Thin Film Technology Resource Group, part of the global R&D function. This group is responsible for developing new coated products and processes to support the NSG Group’s goal of expanding its value-added business and providing technical support to commercial and manufacturing teams. The successful candidate will join a team investigating new coatings applied through chemical vapour deposition. They will work on various projects, ranging from short-term incremental developments to longer-term, broader research initiatives. Responsibilities will focus on the operation and maintenance of laboratory coating and ancillary equipment, depositing thin films on glass and preparation of substrates. Additional activities would include conducting durability tests and measuring coated glass properties such as optical characteristics, electrical properties and film thickness as required. Assessment will be 100% coursework. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? You and your Skills Predicted or achieved minimum of 104 UCAS points. GCSE Grade 4 or above in Maths & English Language. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel. Enjoys active involvement in development/problem solving activities both in a lab and in production facilities. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
