Job Summary
Funding provided by Health and Care Research Wales supports NHS Research and Delivery (R&D) Departments led by an R&D Director to provide local services for research support and to sponsor and host studies within University Health Boards across Wales. Cardiff and Vale University R&D are looking for a Band 6 Registered Nurse with research experience or extensive clinical experience and an interest in research to support early‑phase trials in the Clinical Research Facility.

Responsibilities
* Provide patient care throughout early‑phase trials and manage a portfolio of trials, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients and research participants.
* Recruit, educate, monitor trial patients and ensure accurate data collection and documentation.
* Liaise with supporting departments, Principal Investigators, research sponsors, and research colleagues to coordinate clinical trial visits in accordance with protocols, research regulatory standards and governance frameworks.
* Support the early‑phase research team and undertake relevant training.
* Work closely with experienced research nurses, managers and trial administrators to deliver trials safely and efficiently.
* Participate in on‑call and occasional shift working as required.
* Operate within the Clinical Research Facility at University Hospital of Wales.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
* Specialist knowledge of research legislation, GCP and the national framework and/or extensive clinical experience.
* Ability to make independent decisions and advise others on appropriate action.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
Desirable Qualifications
* ILS.
* Degree.
* Good Clinical Practice certificate.
* Experience of clinical research or a specific clinical area.
* Band 5 acute experience.
Experience & Skills
* Previous patient/client and multidisciplinary team contact within a work environment.
* Excellent written, verbal and organisational skills.
* Ability to communicate complex information to patients, carers and MDT.
* Enthusiastic and able to motivate others.
* Prioritise workload and work autonomously.
* Well‑organised and able to plan own workload.
Desirable Skills
* Venepuncture and cannulation.
* Intravenous medication administration.
* Ability to speak Welsh.
Additional Information
The post is a fixed‑term secondment for 2 years. A Disclosure and Barring Service Check is required.
