A specialist SEMH provision in Bromley is seeking a resilient, proactive, and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, often linked to trauma, anxiety, autism, ADHD, or behavioural challenges.

The Role:
1. Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH and associated needs
2. Build consistent, trusting relationships with students who may display challenging behaviour
3. Support teaching staff in delivering personalised and therapeutic learning plans
4. Help manage behaviour calmly and constructively, using de-escalation and positive reinforcement strategies
5. Encourage pupils to develop self-confidence, independence, and positive coping mechanisms
6. Contribute to a safe, structured, and emotionally supportive school environment
The idea Special Needs Teaching Assistant will have:
7. Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or behavioural difficulties
8. A calm, non-judgmental approach and the emotional resilience to work with pupils facing complex challenges
9. Excellent communication and teamwork skills
10. The ability to model appropriate behaviour and set clear boundaries
11. A commitment to inclusion, equality, and trauma-informed practice
12. Qualifications such as Team Teach, MAPA, or a psychology/education-related degree (desirable but not essential)
