* Position Title: Learning Assistant ASN
* Directorate: Children, Young People and Partnerships
* Location: Rosewell Primary School
* Contract Status: Permanent
* Hours of Work: 27.50 hours per week
* Working Pattern: Monday - Thursday: 08:30 - 15:15, Friday - 08:30 - 12:30
* Weeks per year: 39
* Salary: Based on 27.5 hours over 39 weeks per year, minimum actual salary £18,573.81 per annum
Responsibilities and qualifications
* The jobholder must be familiar with child development and able to respond to the needs of individual pupils. Previous experience in this field of work is desirable.
* Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade General level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education, or equivalent competency, to enable the job holder to communicate effectively with staff and pupils, and provide sensitive support.
* To be fully competent in the role, additional training courses (e.g., first aid, calm techniques, etc.) may be required.
Registration and safeguarding
* If the post is within a Nursery Environment, the Jobholder must be registered with or obtain membership with the SSSC within 3 months of appointment. You must currently hold the relevant qualifications or be willing to work towards attaining these qualifications within the first year of registration. * This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. It is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
* Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment; the cost will be met by you. For more information, visit www.disclosurescotland.gov.uk
* Disclosure Scotland has changed the PVG certificate process; you will be notified by email when your certificate is available to view, and it is only available for 14 days from the first day you view it. If you do not grant access to Midlothian Council in time, a further application may be required, which may incur additional cost.
