Community Mental Health Older People Social Worker – Level 2 / Approved Mental Health Practitioner
Drury Lane, Wakefield – Full‑time (37 hours). Grade 10 or 11.
Are you passionate about improving the health and wellbeing outcomes for older people in Wakefield? Are you committed to promoting the voice of Social Work in Mental Health? If so, we are looking for a dedicated Social Worker to join our integrated community mental health older people’s team.
To succeed you will need a proven track record of supporting positive risk‑taking, be adept in strength‑based, outcome‑focused practice and hold the relevant Social Worker qualification with post‑qualifying experience. Mental health experience is desirable, but a willingness to learn is sufficient.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of service users over 65 with complex/severe mental health and social care needs.
* Prioritise and risk‑assess/manage a complex caseload and respond to crises.
* Undertake planned interventions across statutory casework.
* Promote and develop collaborative working with service users, families, carers and other professionals, aiming to use least restrictive approaches.
* Prepare reports in accordance with policies and procedures.
* Chair meetings and provide expert support for tribunal hearings, court and other functions.
* Offer support and guidance to trainees placed with the team.
Qualifications
* Degree in Social Work or relevant Social Work qualification recognised by the Central Council for Education & Training in Social Work / registration with Social Work England.
* Evidence of successful completion of post‑qualifying award or training.
* Evidence of maintaining skill and knowledge base through post‑qualifying training or other opportunities.
* Ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships with service users, carers and other professionals.
* Good working understanding of the Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Excellent communication and engagement skills, commitment to improving service delivery within mental health and social care.
* Ability to travel is essential.
* Approved mental health practitioner status (if applicable) for grade 11 social worker.
Remuneration
Grade 10: £47,181.00 – £50,269.00
