JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking an organised, proactive and growth oriented HR Generalist to join our HR function. Whilst administration is an important part of this role, we are looking for someone who is curious, takes initiative and wants to expand their HR capability. You will support the HR Manager in delivering a people centred, efficient and forward thinking HR service. This includes shaping and improving processes, supporting employee lifecycle activity, delivering an excellent onboarding experience, and contributing to wider HR initiatives that influence culture, wellbeing and engagement. This role provides genuine opportunity to learn, develop and take ownership of meaningful work across the HR function. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruitment & Onboarding Own the Applicant Tracking System and recruitment administration. Coordinate the end‑to‑end recruitment process, including arranging interviews and liaising with hiring managers. Manage pre employment processes: references, right to work checks, DBS, visa/sponsorship support. Produce accurate offers, contracts and onboarding documentation. Ensure equipment for new joiners is prepared by liaising with IT Support. Support induction activities and ensure compliance with internal and legal requirements. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Act as the first point of contact for routine HR enquiries, escalating when required. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure the HRIS (Cascade) is kept up to date. Support absence reporting, including monitoring, updating systems and coordinating return‑to‑work meetings. Maintain personnel files and HR documentation in line with internal and legal requirements. Support offboarding processes and ensure a smooth transition for leavers. Payroll & Reporting Provide accurate monthly payroll data to the Payroll Team within required deadlines. Support the production of monthly, quarterly, annual and ad‑hoc HR reports. Assist Finance Business Partners with absence and safety‑related reporting. Run or support the creation of complex HR data reports where required. Policy & Process Development Maintain and update HR policies, templates and related documentation. Support the HR Manager with project work, research and continuous improvement initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and support implementation once agreed. Ensure compliance with Axians’ Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 14001) and GDPR requirements. Wellbeing, Culture & Engagement Support the delivery of the wellbeing strategy, including events, communications and initiatives. Assist with planning and communicating engagement initiatives across the business. Support cultural touchpoints such as ordering cards, flowers and gifts. Essential REQUIRED SKILLS & QUAIFICATIONS Experience in a fast‑paced HR generalist or HR coordination role. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Excellent organisation and attention to detail. Proactive approach with initiative and enthusiasm for improving processes. Strong communication skills and ability to build positive working relationships. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity. Desirable CIPD Level 3 (or working towards). Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, data manipulation). Experience using the Cascade HRIS. Experience of running or supporting complex HR reports. Living within a one‑hour commute of Basingstoke. Willingness to travel occasionally for business purposes.
