Teaching Assistant
Location: Stroud, GL5
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Part Time, Monday to Friday 8:30am-1pm
Contract: Long-term
Pay: £14 per hour
Role 1: 1:1 Support for Year 4 Pupil with ADHD
* Provide one-to-one support for a child with a diagnosis of ADHD.
* Help the pupil stay engaged and focused in lessons.
* Implement strategies outlined in the pupil’s support plan.
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor progress.
* Build a positive, trusting relationship to support emotional regulation.
Role 2: 1:2 Support for Two Year 4 Pupils
* Provide shared support (1 adult to 2 pupils) for two children in Year 4.
* One pupil has ADHD; one has a speech and language delay.
* Deliver targeted support tailored to each child’s specific needs.
* Use visual aids, structured routines, and communication strategies.
* Collaborate with the class teacher and speech and language therapist.
* Encourage social interaction, focus, and emotional development.
Essential Criteria
* Experience working with children or adults with additional needs.
* Strong communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach.
* Ability to work flexibly and adapt to children’s individual needs.
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
* Passion for working with children with additional needs.
Desirable
* Experience supporting people with ADHD or speech and language needs (or SEN in general).
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE, NVQ in Childcare/Education, a degree in a relevant field).
