Moorlands Primary School is a large, vibrant three‑form‑entry primary school located in Huddersfield and surrounding areas. Every child deserves the very best education, and the school is seeking an Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion, a qualified SENCO, to join the Senior Management Team and play a key role in shaping inclusive practice while continuing to work directly with children in the classroom.
Responsibilities
* Be a member of the Senior Management Team, working alongside two Assistant Headteachers, the Deputy Headteacher and the Headteacher.
* Provide strategic leadership for Inclusion and SEND, ensuring excellent provision and outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
* Lead and manage the SEND team, including the SENDCO, supporting staff development, practice and wellbeing.
* Lead and manage a year group team.
* Fulfil statutory duties in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
* Lead phonics across the school, supporting staff, monitoring impact and securing consistently high standards.
* Teach for 3.25 days per week initially in KS1 modelling inclusive, high‑quality classroom practice.
* Have 1.75 days per week for leadership, management and PPA time.
Qualifications
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status and be a qualified SENCO (or willing to complete the qualification).
* Have a strong understanding of inclusive education and SEND provision.
* Be an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for all pupils.
* Have experience of leading, supporting and motivating staff.
* Have a clear understanding of early reading and phonics and their importance for all learners.
* Be committed to collaboration, reflection and continued professional development.
