Assistant Accountant (6-Months, potential to go permanent) Location: Leicester (Hybrid - 2-3 days in office) Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum (dependant on experience) Start Date: 23rd September 2025
The Opportunity
Gleeson Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a rapidly expanding organisation who are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their newly created Shared Services team.This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing business during a period of change and investment. The role is offered on an initial 6-month contract with strong potential to become permanent.
Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of core accounting processes. Duties will include:Supporting both month-end and year-end close processes.Reconciling bank, control, and intercompany accounts.Preparing and posting journal entries.Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting audits.Partnering with AP, AR, Payroll, and wider finance teams to ensure best practice.
About You
We are looking for a detail-driven and collaborative Assistant Accountant with:Proven experience preparing month-end accounts up to sign-off stage.Strong understanding of GL, AP, AR, and Payroll processes.Advanced Excel skills (must be comfortable with using VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables).A proactive approach with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.Exposure to automation tools would be advantageous but not essential.
