TeacherActive is proud to be working with a SEND setting in Bristol. We are looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant / SEND TA to work with young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH), Autism, and other Learning Difficulties in South Gloucestershire.
An ideal candidate for the SEN Teaching Assistant / SEND TA will be someone who can work in a fast-paced environment ⚡, be adaptable, have excellent communication skills, and have studied or worked within the creative arts (Music / Art / Drama).
The desired SEN Teaching Assistant / SEND TA will have a passion for working with young people and be able to build rapport quickly, supporting them in making positive choices.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience in creative arts, care, or youth work to step into a classroom role – with full training and support provided. You’ll be focused on pupils’ development as well as helping them grow academically, emotionally, socially, and behaviourally.
The school is seeking a passionate team player to take on this short-term role, with potential to become long-term for the right person.
The position will involve working with students across all Key Stages with SEND and SEMH, and challenging behaviours. A proactive thinker with the ability to take control of situations confidently is essential.
Key Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working with children with additional needs or disabilities
* Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, SEND and SEMH needs
* Experience supporting young people in education, care, or youth settings
* Experience with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) and challenging behaviours
* Key qualities: Patience, Empathy, Team Player
* Ideally a drive, or access to your own transport
