Job Summary
The post holder will provide delegated, supervised work and duties assigned by a Registered Nurse /midwife as appropriate, ensuring that there is continual feedback to the Registered nurse about the patients condition. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of quality patient care to meet their physical, psychological and social needs maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.
To support the promotion of health and prevent ill-health in staff, patients and their relatives.
Promote and maintain a safe and pleasant environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Check the readiness for use of emergency/special equipment and ensure all equipment in use, is in good working order.
The post holder must keep up to date with all mandatory training requirements for the post.
Have knowledge and understanding of all relevant Trust policies, including the Major Incident Plan.
Have knowledge of and adhere to relevant parts of national legislation, including Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH Regulations, and Moving and Handling Regulations.
Transport people and/or items safely and to time consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
To report any faulty equipment in the trust to shift co-ordinators to ensure quick maintenance carried out.

You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a good knowledge of IT systems. You need to have the ability to act on your own initiative and work well within a team. Key Result Areas & Performance
Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team in giving an excellent standard of care to a variety of different client groups.

Person Specification
* Experience (Essential): 6 Months NHS General Hospital Experience as a Health Care Assistant
* Knowledge & Skills (Essential):
o Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
o Must pass basic numeracy and literacy tests as set out by the Trust.
o Good basic hygiene skills (e.g. food handling, hand washing, etc.).
o Punctual and reliable.
o Must be computer literate.
o Ability to follow clear instructions and feed back to senior staff.
o Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
o Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative.
o Caring for people.
o Manual handling of patients using lifting aid.
* Personal Qualities (Essential):
o Flexibility - Able and willing to work flexible shift patterns, internal rotation to day and night duty and unsocial hours, according to service needs.
o Able and willing to move from department to department depending on service needs.
o The ability to take instruction and guidance to enhance caring skills.
o Enthusiasm to learn and progress within the care profession.
* Qualifications (Essential): Good general education - Minimum GCSE A-C in Maths/English or equivalent.
* Desirable:
o NVQ Level 2 in Health and social care or HCA Care Certificate.
o Moving & Handling, Infection control, Fire safety and Safe Guarding Certificates within 1 year.
