We are currently partnering with a market leading retail business based in Wilmslow in the appointment of an ambitious and proactive Finance Manager to join the successful finance team and assist with the growth of the business.
Working closely with (and reporting to) the Group Finance Director and managing a team of two finance employees, your role will play an integral part in the production of the management accounts, monthly reporting, posting of invoices, forecasting and commercial analysis. This role will also provide career development looking at working towards a more Finance manager role.
Key responsibilities:
1. Manage workload and performance of Finance team
2. Report to the Finance Director with timely and accurate financial information, to identify results, trends and financial forecasts.
3. Liaise with customers and suppliers as necessary.
4. Managing all day-to-day accounting operations - this usually includes Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
5. Coordinating the preparation of budget and financial forecasting and reporting any variances.
6. Preparing and publishing all monthly financial statements, including quarterly VAT returns.
7. Ensuring all transactions are recorded, filed and reported properly.
8. Making sure reporting meets compliant standards with statutory law and financial regulations.
9. Documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain internal controls.
10. Streamlining and improving all operations and accounting systems.
11. Coordinating the management of cash flow, debt and debt collection. Tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
12. Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external personnel where required.
13. Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
14. Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation.
15. Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
16. Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports, including cost reduction opportunities.
17. Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
18. Operate the sales ledger functions, associated systems, and bank reconciliations.
19. Support the stock-take, stock control and stock transaction functions ensuring effective controls.
20. Support the preparation of Year-end statutory accounts and associated transactions, reports and returns.
Candidate requirements
21. Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA)
22. Ability to take ownership for posting, processing, producing, and analysing monthly management accounts
23. Proven ability to manage and support a small team.
24. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
25. Experience using both finance platforms, e.g. Xero, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP etc. and non-finance platforms, e.g. Microsoft 365.
26. Self-driven, highly motivated, able to set priorities and a desire to consistently exceed expectations.
27. Excellent planning, organisation, time management, written + verbal communication skills.
