About the role
The Learning & Development Manager (LDM) has responsibility for planning, organising and coordinating a wide range of learning and development activities, including arranging organisational, individual and induction training for the Association’s employees, field trainers and volunteers. This includes the management of the delivery of accredited and non‑accredited welfare training for RAF Association volunteers in accordance with the Association Business Plan. The LDM develops responsive training initiatives to meet the needs of the organisational plan, evaluates learning outcomes, demonstrates the efficacy of current training practices, and reports and collates information/statistics as required.
Primary responsibilities – Volunteers
* The production of a training strategy for the volunteer network and an annual training plan.
* Development of courses and supporting materials and delivery of high‑quality accredited training through direct face‑to‑face delivery, online tutor‑led delivery and e‑learning for those involved in the delivery of the Association welfare and wellbeing work.
* Act as the point of contact with the External Verifier of AIM AWARDS, and manage centre compliance, quality checks, course development and administration.
* Ensure relevant quality frameworks such as Skills for Care and Investing in Volunteers are used as a basis for learning, development and training needs analysis.
Primary responsibilities – Employees
* Development of the employee learning and development strategy in line with the Association Business Plan.
* Design and co‑deliver engaging learning and development content which includes leadership and management training modules (to include employment law, ED&I, performance management).
* Establish and develop external relationships with appropriate learning and development providers and other organisations such as CIPD, universities and Voluntary Action Leicestershire (VAL).
* Support the development of detailed business proposals for employee learning and development.
* Ensure learning and development activities are integrated with organisational objectives.
General responsibilities
* Create engaging e‑learning course content, including use of video editing when required.
* Provide effective leadership support to the training administrators.
* Keep professional knowledge and expertise up to date and advise the Head of HR on developments, themes and best practice.
* Manage and maintain the Learning Management Systems.
* Conduct regular reviews and updates of relevant policies and processes for employee and volunteer development.
About you
Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience, you will have a recognised training qualification along with an assessor qualification. You will be highly proficient in IT and able to design and deliver engaging training content both online and face‑to‑face. You will have experience in managing training systems and platforms, developing learning strategies and identifying recommendations for trends and improvements. Previous line management is highly desirable as you will lead a small but dynamic administration team. Flexibility in your working hours will be required from time to time to attend meetings and events (planned in advance). We offer time off in lieu for occasions where you may have longer days away to promote or deliver programmes.
