AV Pre-Testing Engineer

Salary: £40,000 per annum
We are seeking a proactive and technically minded AV Pre-Testing Engineer to join our client's growing technical operations team in Bedfordshire. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for audio visual technology, IT systems, and collaboration platforms who enjoys working in a structured, hands-on technical environment.
This role will focus on the preparation, configuration, testing, and quality assurance of AV and unified communications equipment prior to deployment on client sites. You will play a key role in ensuring systems are fully configured, documented, and operational before installation, helping to deliver a seamless experience for both internal teams and end users.
The position is primarily based at the company's in-house facility, with occasional visits to customer sites when required.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Programming & Commissioning Manager, responsibilities will include:
AV System Preparation & Pre-Testing: Configure and prepare AV and UC systems including Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), Zoom Rooms, and associated collaboration technologies prior to deployment.
Device Configuration: Set up and configure AV hardware including cameras, microphones, DSPs, speakers, soundbars, touch panels, room controllers, and displays.
Network & Firmware Setup: Apply network settings including IP addressing, device naming, firmware updates, and loading configuration files to ensure devices are deployment ready.
System Testing & Quality Assurance: Carry out structured bench testing to verify system functionality, network connectivity, audio/video performance, and overall operational consistency.
Documentation & Technical Records: Maintain accurate records of device configurations, IP and MAC addresses, firmware versions, and testing procedures to support commissioning and future maintenance.
Technical Coordination: Work closely with installation, programming, design, and project management teams to support smooth project delivery and technical handovers.
Workshop & Asset Management: Assist with maintaining an organised technical workspace, ensuring equipment is correctly labelled, stored, and prepared for dispatch.Essential Skills & Experience
Good working knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, and general IT principles.
Strong interest in AV technologies, collaboration systems, and networking.
Basic understanding of networking concepts including IP addressing and DHCP.
Methodical approach to fault finding and technical problem solving.
Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong communication skills and professional attitude.
Full UK driving licence for occasional site visits.Desirable Experience
Exposure to Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, or similar UC platforms.
Understanding of AV-over-IP technologies and AV signal flow.
Experience working within AV integration, IT support, or technical staging environments.
Networking qualifications or AV certifications would be advantageous but are not essential.What's on Offer
