An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Data and Analytics Team at Northern Care Alliance for a Senior Data Engineer to help migrate the current on-premises solution to a cloud-based solution in Azure.
The Data and Analytics Team has recently undergone a period of natural growth and progression which resulted in the opportunity for two Senior Data Engineers to join the existing Data Platform Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that is looking to be one of the first hospitals in the country to have a complete Cloud Based Data Warehouse Solution.
The Team is not only transitioning to a state‑of‑the‑art Azure data platform but also implementing an agile multi‑disciplinary, product‑focused approach to delivering cutting‑edge insights, data science and visualisations to the organisation.
The Senior Data Engineer is pivotal to the delivery of high‑quality efficient healthcare provision and robust information to operational, clinical and corporate decision‑makers through on‑demand reporting from our current Data Warehouse and the future cloud‑based data warehouse.
The successful candidate will help to design, develop & implement the trust's new cloud‑based data warehouse, be responsible for migration away from legacy/on‑prem solutions and replacing them with state‑of‑the‑art cloud‑based technologies (Azure), while also maintaining & developing existing on‑prem solutions.
Responsibilities
* You will be working within a team leading in the specification, development and implementation of a Hybrid on‑premise and Azure cloud Data Warehouse and reporting platform.
* Work closely with members of the Data & Analytics Team to proactively develop / improve the trust's Data Warehouse platform / function into a highly efficient architecture.
* Ensure you are proactive rather than reactive when issues arise within the data warehouse, fixing them in a timely manner and documenting for future reference. Comprehensive knowledge of Data Engineering products such as SSIS, SSRS, SQL is required to triage and signpost solutions to customers and potential issues to internal teams.
* Work closely with the Senior Data Engineering Manager and team to identify risks and rectify them before they become issues, particularly those that could adversely impact patients, service users and the Data Platform's reputation.
* Manage / support the day‑to‑day operations of the trust's data warehouse solution both on‑prem & MS Azure to ensure they run without errors through the BAU requests portal, dealing with incidents & changes through our Agile (Scrum) process, liaising with third‑party vendors, internal & external teams to ensure business continuity.
* Design, implement, support and continually improve the new Microsoft Azure‑based Data Warehouse, covering the intake of new systems through to staging, data warehouse and reporting layers using the Kimball methodology within Data Factory / Pipeline processes.
