This is a Fixed-term Appointment as Disclosure Case Manager in the Afghan Inquiry Response Unit. Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The appointment duration corresponds to the Inquiry's timeline, starting from your appointment date and ending on 01/03/2027. When your Fixed-term Appointment at MOD concludes, arrangements will be made in line with the FTA policy.
If you are a permanent MoD civil servant and are successful for this Fixed-term Appointment (FTA), you should transition into the post via a Temporary Transfer (up to 23 months). After the posting, you will return to your previous MoD Business area. If the posting is at a higher grade, your promotion will be temporary, and you will revert to your substantive grade afterward. If a Temporary Transfer cannot be agreed upon, a transfer on an FTA contract is possible; refer to the FTA and Change of Work Location in the UK policy for details.

The role involves leading the large Disclosure Team (DT), including our team of Assistant Case Managers, as one of four HEOs. You will support the DT Senior Management to deliver high-quality disclosure within deadlines, ensuring compliance with Government security procedures and supporting the MOD in providing a comprehensive evidence base for the Inquiry within its Terms of Reference.
Key responsibilities include:
* Proactively leading, managing, training, and motivating assistant case managers to ensure disclosure exercises meet quality standards and deadlines.
* Managing the day-to-day operation and delivery of the Inquiry Disclosure Program.
* Collaborating with the MOD’s legal, delivery, and policy teams to manage evidence provided to the Inquiry.
* Overseeing teams responsible for Disclosure Quality Assurance, ensuring documents meet Inquiry and MOD guidelines and specific requests.
* Preparing all hearing-related documents and bundles.
