37.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
Monday to Wednesday: 06:30 to 16:30 / Thursdays: 06:30 to 16:00
Salary Range: £28,000 - £32,000
Responsibilities:
· Perform product inspections at designated quality gates along the assembly line.
· Ensure all components and finished products meet defined quality standards and specifications.
· Identify, report, and escalate any defects, deviations, or non-conformances promptly.
· Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
· Collaborate with the Production team to promote a "right first time" culture.
· Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering Team to investigate root causes of defects and drive corrective/preventive actions.
· Update, maintain, and improve quality inspection instructions and checkpoints within the MES to reflect current standards.
· Ensure inspection criteria in the MES are clear, accurate, and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements.
· Monitor defect trend analysis within the MES to identify recurring issues or process weaknesses.
· Provide feedback to the Operations Team and wider business on quality performance using MES data.
· Ensure tools, gauges, and measuring equipment are properly calibrated and used correctly.
· Act as a key link between Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams by ensuring inspection practices evolve with process changes.
· Maintain a safe and organized working environment in line with health and safety policies.
Skills & Experience:
· Previous experience in a manufacturing or quality assurance role, ideally within an assembly or production environment.
· Strong understanding of quality inspection methods, measurement tools, and defect identification.
· Experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or similar digital production systems.
· Ability to interpret and update technical instructions, drawings, and quality standards.
· Skilled in analysing defect trends and supporting root cause analysis / problem-solving activities.
· Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and working to takt time requirements.
· Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with Production Operators, Quality, and Engineering teams.
· Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and data analysis.
· High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear feedback and documentation.
· Understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements in a manufacturing environment.
Desirable but not essential:
· Formal training or certification in Quality (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, CQI, or equivalent).
· Knowledge of ISO 9001 or other relevant quality management systems.
· Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and data-driven quality tools.
· Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys, or Fishbone.
· Understanding of APQP, PPAP, or other automotive/aerospace quality frameworks (if relevant to your sector).
· Previous experience supporting continuous improvement or Kaizen activities.
