The Minor Civils Engineer is a key part of the Special Projects team, repairing and replacing broken sewer chamber frames and covers, whilst adhering to BSI regulations.
Position: Minor Civils Engineer HGV Operative
Location: Based out of Gerrards Cross work for the Special Projects Division, travelling to all locations in our network (Beckton, North London; Kidlington, Thames Valley; Chertsey, Home Counties South; Ryemeads, Home Counties North; Iver, West London; Crossness, South London)
Job Type: permanent, full time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week (6am to 4:30pm)
Salary: £15.50+ per hour depending upon experience

About The Role
Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.
* Ensure materials are stocked from the depot for all work planned
o including but not limited to sewer chamber covers, cement, resin, tarmac…
* Prepare the boiler system for the tarmac whilst at the depot, ensuring the correct temperature is reached
* Conduct an onsite risk assessment, supported by the appropriate photos
* Deploy traffic management as per processes and rams and evidence with photos
* Complete a service avoidance of the area for cables and services alongside documenting photos
o CAT and Genny in particular
* Repair and replace broken sewer chamber frames and covers referring to the SOP F&C PMMA step-by-step installation guide (separate to this document):
o Remove defected Sewer Chamber cover using the appropriate tools, with photographic evidence
o Measure the area to cut, clearly marked out, ensuring clean lines and accuracy, remove spoil and confirm with pictures
o Taking into consideration guidelines and scope of works, lay the bed and frame ensuring it is level, supported by photos
o Lay the resin, tarmac and chippings in accordance with the guide alongside documenting photos
* Ensure any waste left on site is cleared and confirm with pictures
* Review any changes to the Standard Operating Practise and adhere to any amendments throughout your work
* Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by management

You must have a minimum of a HGV Class 2 licence and you must have completed the certificate of professional competence (CPC) and an up to date digi tachograph card.
