A well-established and community-focused secondary school in Manchester is seeking an experienced and compassionate Family Support Officer to strengthen its pastoral team. The Role You will work closely with students, families, Heads of Year and safeguarding leads to provide early intervention and targeted support. The role involves building trusting relationships with parents and carers, identifying barriers to attendance or engagement, and coordinating appropriate support strategies. You will conduct home visits where appropriate, liaise with external agencies and contribute to multi-agency meetings to ensure students receive holistic support. Accurate record keeping and compliance with safeguarding procedures are essential. The role also involves supporting attendance initiatives, mentoring vulnerable pupils and delivering small-group interventions focused on resilience, wellbeing and re-engagement.
