Curator (Artefacts) Salary (Grade 4) - £28,782 per annum Hours: 37.5 hours per week - Permanent Location: Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton Our epic story is of the Royal Navy, and its impact on Britain and the world. Here you can come aboard the most famous ships, planes, and submarines of the Royal Navy and experience them through those who served on them. As well as being truly captivated by the thousands of unique, emotional, and sometimes quirky stories that have shaped the Royal Navy into what it proudly stands for today. This is a great opportunity to join the team: A large part of our internationally significant collection is held at Cobham Hall, the Museum’s spacious, modern facility at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton. We are now recruiting a Curator to work to improve understanding of this material, further enhance how we care for it and to work with colleagues to make it accessible. Collections and Research is a dynamic team who care for and provide both physical and intellectual access to the NMRN collections held in galleries and stores across the Museum’s sites. We also support other teams and external organisations, groups and stakeholders through object loans, knowledge sharing, and contributing to or leading larger projects which directly concern the museum’s collection. What you can bring: Experience of working with museum and archive collections Experience of supporting the creation and delivery of interpretation, or demonstrable willingness to learn Experience of working with volunteers and directing them to appropriate tasks Evidence of knowledge of, or ability to develop, specialism in one broad collection area Relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience. Broad knowledge of professional standards Ability to work independently and organise and prioritise workload to meet changing demands and comply with tight deadlines.
