Data Platform Consultant
Department: Data Platforms
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Bristol, UK
Reporting To: William Taite
Compensation: £40,000 - £55,000 / year
Description
Over the last year, our client delivery teams have grown rapidly, especially across our major enterprise accounts. With that growth has come a clear need for more strength in the mid‑layer of our consulting pyramid.
Clients consistently tell us they love the quality of our work, but they need more consultants who can bridge the gap between junior team members and senior leads.
This role exists to strengthen that middle layer: someone experienced enough to manage client conversations, guide junior consultants, run workstreams, and keep delivery smooth without always escalating upward.
Essentially: we’re building a more resilient, scalable delivery model, and this role is central to that.
What you'll be doing...
You’ll play a central role in delivering modern data platform projects for large, complex clients. Working closely with principals, seniors, junior consultants, and client stakeholders, you’ll help drive clarity, structure, and momentum across projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Leading small workstreams within data engineering and migration projects
* Working directly with clients to understand requirements, challenge assumptions, and co‑create solutions
* Supporting legacy‑to‑cloud migrations and rebuilding pipelines on modern architectures
* Guiding junior consultants, unblocking them, and helping to improve delivery quality
* Keeping stakeholders aligned and raising risks early
* Contributing to smoother delivery by managing prioritisation, clarifying scope, and supporting escalation paths
In your first 3–6 months, success might look like:
* Building strong rapport with client stakeholders and becoming a trusted, go‑to partner
* Running a defined workstream independently with clear communication and quality output
* Demonstrating solid judgment around requirements, priorities, and pushing back where needed
* Helping juniors gain confidence and independence through steady, constructive guidance
* Handling day‑to‑day queries and decisions effectively
What you'll need to succeed...
You might be a great fit if you have:
* 3-5+ years of experience in data engineering or modern data platform delivery
* Strong foundations in SQL, data pipelines, ETL/ELT concepts, cloud-based data platforms, and working with data models (implemented or shadowed, not necessarily designed)
* Experience delivering end-to-end project work - exposure to development, testing, deployment, and production support
* The confidence to discuss, debate, and push back when needed
* Clear, thoughtful communication skills and an ability to translate complex topics into simple conversations
* A natural inclination to mentor and support junior team members
* Curiosity, resourcefulness, and a willingness to speak up, ask good questions, and learn fast
This role might not be the right fit if you’re looking for:
* A purely technical role with minimal client interaction
* A hands-off delivery environment; this role requires active ownership, decision-making, and navigating ambiguity
* A role without interpersonal challenge - stakeholder management and confident communication are key
Why choose Snap?
Joining Snap means joining a team of brilliant data people who genuinely care about their craft and each other.

* A supportive, collaborative environment where strong contributors thrive
If this sounds like the next step you’re ready for, we’d love to hear from you.
