You will work as part of a diverse team, delivering engineering design technical excellence across UKPN Services contracts portfolio to place UK Power Networks Services in the top tier for design and build of private assets on safety, customer service and efficiency. You will manage the successful production and checking of system engineering design deliverables. You will ensure that UKPN Services produce high-quality engineering design solutions that comply with relevant legislation, client and UKPN Services standards. You will provide technical liaison with suppliers, and clients for creating new business and the delivery of projects. Principle Accountabilities: Typical accountabilities for the Senior Design Engineer will include: Develop, and check the delivery of HV, LV and DC engineering designs across the UKPN Services business that deliver Good Industry Practice Provide technical input to the team and into UKPN Services bids Ensure that engineering design solutions are robust to meet client specifications and enable accurate tender submissions to be developed Assess cost/benefit trade-off of technical solution and support the technical decision-making processes Identify areas for technological advancement whilst maintaining excellent engineering standards Dimensions: Annual Works Costs: £5m Skills, Qualifications and Experience: Degree level or equivalent in engineering or science Chartered Engineer or working towards achieving Chartership Membership of a professional body such as the IET Knowledge of Systems Engineering Knowledge of power distribution, and railway electrification Basic knowledge of project management Experience delivering Systems Engineering Designs for complex power distribution or railway electrification projects Health and Safety Requirements Ensure all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements are considered. Ensure safe working methods and systems are followed in the design Accept responsibility to meet and fulfil all UKPNS Health and Safety requirements. Mentor junior staff in all matters relating to Health & Safety aligned with their role. Create a safe working environment for all staff and contractors supporting the business.
