Location: Edinburgh, Scotland (Opportunity for Hybrid working).

Reports to: Group Financial Controller

Sectors: Retail | Property | Funeral Services

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours Monday to Friday, Hybrid working supported – typically 2–3 days remote.

The role is a key position within our finance team, working closely with senior leaders across the group to deliver strategic financial guidance, ensure robust controls, and support major projects and transformation initiatives. Your work will directly contribute to our ability to invest in our communities and deliver our core purpose.

What You’ll Be Doing

·Preparation of monthly management accounts, with sharp analysis and clear, actionable commentary.

·Support the forecasting and budgeting cycles that inform strategic decisions.

·Partnering with operational leaders to understand performance, and cost drivers.

·Acting as a trusted finance advisor across divisions, ensuring alignment with financial controls, group policies and objectives.

·Strengthening financial controls and supporting audit and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

·Identify and implement opportunities to streamline financial processes and reporting.

·Support integration of newly acquired entities and ensure alignment with Group financial systems, policies, and internal controls.

·Provide financial input into divisional projects, including property developments, retail expansions, or service enhancements in funeral operations.

·Contributing to high-profile initiatives—from property developments to retail expansion and service innovation.

·Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure timely submission of all statutory and regulatory filings, including National Statistics returns.

·Support group reporting activities including VAT, tax and HMRC compliance.

What You’ll Bring

·A professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

·Experience in management or divisional accounting, or from a top-tier professional services firm.

·Strong analytical skills and Excel expertise.

·Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions.

·A proactive, curious mindset and a desire to grow with the business.

Desirable and advantageous

·Sector experience in retail, property, or funeral services.

·Familiarity with ERP systems (Unit4, SAP, Oracle, Sage).

·Exposure to ESG or sustainability reporting.

·PowerBI or other data visualisation tools.

·Experience in multi-entity or multi-sector environments.
