Adopt North East is a Regional Adoption Agency hosted by North Tyneside Council, in partnership with Gateshead Council, Newcastle City Council, Northumberland County Council, North Tyneside Council and South Tyneside Council. Since December 2018, Adopt North East has provided adoption services on behalf of the partnership, recruiting, assessing and supporting prospective adopters and handling non‑agency adoption work, including partner adoptions and inter‑country adoptions. Adopt North East is primarily responsible for family finding for all children with adoption plans, while the five partner Local Authorities retain overall responsibility for children in their care. Adopt North East supports all parties affected by adoption, including adopters, adoptive families, adopted adults and birth relatives.
About the Role
Adopt North East is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Qualified Social Worker to the Recruitment, Assessment and Support Team, preparing and supporting families and children. The post is fixed at 12 months, due to maternity cover, and is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Social Worker who wants to develop a specialism in adoption and open doors to further opportunities in adoption.
Responsibilities
* Recruiting, assessing and supporting prospective adopters.
* Handling non‑agency adoption work, including partner adoptions and inter‑country adoptions.
* Providing family finding for all children with adoption plans.
* Supporting adopters, adoptive families, adopted adults and birth relatives.
Qualifications
* Qualified Social Worker.
* Experience in adoption preferred.
* Highly ambitious and motivated to deliver the best possible adoption services.
Legal & Compliance
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and an Enhanced DBS disclosure, including Barred List Check, will be required.
