Senior Structural Design Engineer - Environment (Water)
Locations: Solihull / Grangemouth (Scotland) / Nottingham (Annesley / Warrington / Bristol), other locations considered.
**What you will be doing:**
As a Senior Structural Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the Engineering Design Team, working with Principal Engineers, Design Teams, and Design Managers to deliver high-quality designs in compliance with GT processes, BMS, and H&S Regulations. This technical role involves direct project engagement, requiring expertise in water and wastewater industry design. You may also have line management responsibilities for other engineers.
You will contribute to engineering governance, ensure design integration, support procurement and site activities, and mentor early-career engineers.
Responsibilities include:
* Delivering structural design in water/wastewater projects
* Reviewing schemes, producing reports, calculations, and drawings
* Detail designing reinforced concrete and steel structures
* Modifying existing structural assets
* Mentoring junior engineers
* Producing environmentally conscious designs
* Supporting planning, costing, and scheduling
* Collaborating with various disciplines and supporting site assessments
Specific Requirements:
* Extensive experience in relevant discipline
* Knowledge of reinforced concrete design for water/wastewater infrastructure
* Experience with British Standards, Eurocodes, and design software (STAADPro, Strand, TEKLA, TEDDS)
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Experience with structural assessments and client liaison
Additional Requirements:
* Proven track record in water sector structures
* Knowledge of structural design for various water assets
* Experience across all design stages to construction
* Ability to lead, supervise, and liaise with stakeholders
