Job Summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Band 6 nurse within Respiratory Medicine. Albury is a general medical ward specialising in Respiratory Medicine. We are looking for an enthusiastic Junior Sister/Charge Nurse seeking to expand their critical care/high dependency skills by caring for Level 2 patients undergoing non-invasive ventilation. This is a busy and varied role; you will need excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others. You will be supported into the post by the Matron and Senior Sister.
Responsibilities
* Deliver patient care on a daily basis and be expert in all areas of nursing care from admission to discharge to support clinical practice development.
* Act as nurse in charge with day-to-day management of the clinical area and ensure care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures with accurate records.
* Manage, support and lead a team of nurses in the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centred care of a high standard.
* Assist the senior sister in staff management including appraisal, rotas, recruitment and supervision of learners.
* Provide advice and support to patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team; utilise clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching to monitor and improve standards of care.
* Liaise with the senior sister and provide leadership on Trust values and behaviours.

Job Description

Qualifications
* Essential: Registered Nurse Part 1 or 2
* Essential: Recent post-qualification experience in acute setting
* Essential: Demonstrates professional updating of knowledge in past 1–2 years
* Desirable: Teaching qualification ENB 998 or City & Guilds 730 or equivalent
* Desirable: First degree
* Desirable: D32/33 [A1] NVQ Assessors Award
Knowledge
* Essential: Experience at Band 5 or above within acute hospital setting
* Essential: Up-to-date clinical credibility/competence
* Essential: Advanced skills in practice (e.g., IV additives, cannulation, venepuncture)
* Essential: Knowledge of current issues in acute NHS setting
* Essential: Knowledge of clinical governance issues (e.g., complaints handling, clinical risk management)
* Essential: Evidence of research-based practice
* Desirable: Clinical audit
* Desirable: Evidence of changing practice and project management
