Overview
Role purpose: Are you a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in the water and wastewater sector? We are seeking a confident, innovative professional to lead the design and delivery of complex infrastructure projects, across AMP 8 and AMP 9, for the major water and wastewater companies in England and Wales. The role is available in the Midsomer Norton (Head Office), Newport, or Swansea offices. In this role, you will work on a diverse range of challenging projects, mentor junior staff, and influence key project decisions.
Responsibilities
* Mechanical design and specification of water and wastewater treatment systems, pumping stations, and associated infrastructure
* Oversee project delivery from concept through detailed design to construction support
* Develop detailed specifications for survey requirements, equipment, systems and interfaces between disciplines, ensuring they meet client requirements and industry standards
* Produce mechanical designs using project specifications, standard requirements, outline scopes of work, and/or site investigations
* Innovate and drive continuous improvement across projects and designs
* Support problem solving across teams by applying your experience to define solutions
* Assist less technically experienced team members with the specification of technical plant and machinery
* Liaise with project managers and commercial teams
* Attend site visits during and after projects and present technical information during client meetings
Requirements
* Experience working in a senior mechanical design role
* Relevant engineering qualification such as a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, HNC, or HND
* Experience in:
o Mechanical systems design
o Site general arrangement design, 2D and/or 3D
o Design project coordination, leading and supporting teams
o Chemical dosing
o Water quality monitoring
* Autodesk 3D CAD packages
* Microsoft Office
* Specific water industry-based design experience
