As a Read Coder and Summariser, you are to support the data quality team in their work. As your knowledge, skills, and experience progress, you will undertake development across the varying responsibilities of the team.
You are required to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of QOF, Information Governance, Information Management, IG Toolkit, Data Protection, Caldicott, and Freedom of Information legislation, and implement these throughout your daily duties.
Main duties of the job
1. Read coding and linking to existing and new problems by marking them as a new episode/ongoing and deciding the appropriate place to attach it in the patient record.
2. Coding complex medical documents and summarising Medical Record Envelopes upon receipt into the practice.
3. Managing NHS Mail and daily incoming mail, including scanning and attaching all patient-related documents to patient records and distributing other post appropriately.
4. Ensuring all patient records are maintained appropriately, working to Information Governance standards and Data Protection provisions.
5. Managing E-consults, subject access requests, insurance reports, death certificates, and cremation forms.
6. Processing safeguarding documents in line with the Affinity Care safeguarding administration protocol.
7. Handling medical record movement, EDI links, and queries from PCSE.
8. Assigning and dealing with unassigned tasks received from internal and external sources to the appropriate team members or individuals promptly.
9. Supporting the team with Retinal Screening reports processing and saving.
10. Assisting with management of PNL and E-Cards on the Cervical Screening Management System (CSMS).
11. Providing support across Affinity Care as required.
