Program Start Date (Tentative): July 15th
Duration: 3 weeks, intensive
Overview
This is not a typical training program. The FIMA program is an elite, no-cost, sorting and training camp for candidates at the end of college or early in their career who are serious about developing a long-term career in quantitative finance. We are looking for resilient, intellectually curious, and highly responsible individuals who are ready to work and ready to be challenged.
FIMA members will learn and apply quantitative skills across math, finance, data science, business analytics, and computer science. You’ll conduct hands-on research, study financial market structures, build or refine systematic strategies, and deepen your understanding of portfolio construction and hedge fund philosophy.
But be warned: This program is intentionally simulating the challenges you will encounter in real-world financial institutions. We are screening candidates for patience, professionalism, and problem-solving ability.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct financial and statistical research (e.g., replicate common risk factors like Fama-French Five, post-earnings announcement drift, etc.).
* Analyze portfolio metrics, market dynamics, and sector-specific data to support investment hypotheses.
* Complete deliverables including code submissions, strategy write-ups, and a final video presentation explaining the trading signal(s) you've developed using FIMA’s proprietary data infrastructure.
Who Should Apply
This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. There is no guaranteed job offer at the end of the program. We typically refer fewer than 20% of participants to select employers. However, even if you don't walk out with a job offer, you are still given skills that can be applied in other industries and relationships you can always draw upon. If you are:
* At the end of college or early in your career
* Interested in building a long-term career in quantitative investing
* A strong communicator and deep learner
* Mature, patient, and reliable under pressure
…then this could be the most valuable three weeks of your professional life.
Program Outcomes & Employment Pathways
Top performers will be referred to our partner network of top investment firms, including hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, and asset managers. Past alumni have gone on to manage hundreds of millions of dollars at firms such as Engineers Gate and Goldman Sachs.
Evaluation Criteria
* Quality of research design
* Technical proficiency in Python and SQL
* Communication and storytelling (especially your final video presentation)
* Maturity, patience, and independent problem-solving
* Completion of all FIMA quizzes and deliverables
Suggested Technical Prerequisites
* Mastery of Python data analysis with pandas, SQL integration, regressions (OLS, Fama-MacBeth, diff-in-diff, IV/2SLS, fixed effects), and basic portfolio metrics
* Can independently clean data, join tables, and manipulate large datasets
* Can self-check accuracy and logic of analysis
* Must sign confidentiality and paperwork agreements
* Must be legally authorized to work
Many of our best students had no Python or computer science training prior to joining us, however. If you have a strong drive to learn, we encourage you to apply nonetheless.
Confidentiality & Conduct
FIMA materials are confidential and copyrighted. All coursework is for educational use only and not to be shared with outside organizations.
