This is a demanding but rewarding role.
It would be an advantage if the successful applicant has a recognised secretarial qualification and ideally sufficient proven medical secretarial experience.
However full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with the reception teams, clinical team, to achieve swift outcomes, and aid in smooth transition and flow of information between internal and external bodies.
Excellent communication skills needed, the ability to multi task, high attention to detail.
Prioritise work in order of importance.
You will need the ability to work on your own and as part of a team.

Ash Surgery is a traditional GP Practice, set in the heart of rural East Kent, close to the city of Canterbury. We are a close-knit team with one Partner, three salaried GP's, a paramedic practitioner and nursing team made up of two Practice nurses and two HCA's.
Our administration team work very closely with the clinical team to support each other and deliver the very best in patient care.
Job responsibilities
Day to day tasks involve making referrals, Advice andGuidance requests, manage the E-referral workflow, typing letters that havebeen dictated by the GPs or creating them on their behalf either by audiotranscribing or via written. Producereferrals from any incoming clinical letters
The main point of contact for the Surgery PatientParticipation Group and assist them with the production and proof reading ofthe quarterly newsletter for the surgery.
Organise and book appointments with the GPs and otherclinicians as required.
Liaise regularly with other medical secretaries andconsultants via email and telephone.
Create invoices requesting payment for any private work wecarry out.
Registrations - registering new patients and deducting anypatients leaving our Practice, manage the GP2GP workflow
Summarise patient records, prepare reports includinginsurance reports, mortgage reports, fostering reports, shotgun licences,Personal Independence reports (PIP) and Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency(DVLA) reports. Redact medical records
Maintaining and updating the surgery website
Person Specification
Experience
* Secretarial experience in a clinical environment
* Working knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Outlook, Excel
* Working knowledge and experience of using NHS systems
* Basic or enhanced medical secretary courses completed
