Contract type: Fixed term 12 months

Hours: 30 hours per week

Are you an experienced Band 7 or 8a Clinical Psychologist looking for a new challenge in a well established neuropsychology team? The postholder will be based with a neuropsychology team at York Hospital, but will have some clinical time dedicated to delivering a satellite clinic at Scarborough Hospital. The ability to transport yourself across the locality is a requirement. Travel time will be factored into the role alongside opportunities for hybrid working.

You will be joining a well established and respected wider Psychological Medicine department, made up of Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologist, CBT Therapists, Specialist Counsellors and Assistant Psychologists, with an embedded admin team and Trainee's on placement from the Hull DClinPsych.

Main duties of the job

The Neuropsychology Service is keen to recruit a Clinical Psychologist to provide input into our outpatient service and to jointly provide inpatient consultation and support to the Neurosciences Multidisciplinary Team. Teaching, research and audit are also strongly encouraged with the team.

Essential criteria

9. Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies as accredited by the BPS and HCPC registration
10. Post entry grade experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of medically ill patients across a range of care-settings.
11. Experience of working with patient groups whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
12. Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
13. Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and a wide range of lay and professional persons within and outside the NHS.
14. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
15. Ability to work as a team member and show flexibility and adaptability.

Desirable criteria

16. Experience of working with patients who have neurological problems in an Acute Trust setting.
