The Yomiuri Shimbun is seeking an Assistant Correspondent to join its London bureau.
This is an interesting role in which you will have the opportunity to develop journalistic experience across multiple topic areas. The successful applicant will assist Japanese journalists with their coverage of news across the UK and Northern Europe. The London bureau covers political, economic, and cultural news, with a strong focus on domestic and international politics.

Attention to detail and accuracy is essential, and you will need the ability to evaluate content and distinguish reliable sources from those that are not credible.
We are a small, hardworking office and you’ll work closely with our journalists to identify and develop stories, supporting them to gain a clear understanding of stories, drawing out salient facts from news reports, interviews, and other sources.
You will also need to be capable of working independently, often at pace, to confirm facts and identify breaking news of relevance to our readers. Strong communication skills will also be required to help you approach and secure appropriate interviewees.
