The Role

To provide high quality business and operational service support to the Division and contribute to the implementation of strategy ensuring opportunities for continuous development and improvement of services are appropriately considered and pursued to facilitate the delivery of clinical services.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics Directorate as a Directorate Support Manager on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care within one of NHS Lanarkshire’s busiest and most dynamic specialties.

What we'll need you to bring

1. Educated to degree level in business management or equivalent knowledge and demonstrable experience.
2. Post graduate expertise within a business management / operational management or health service area that demonstrates the required expert breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently
3. Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development
4. Line management experience and the ability to management effectively
5. Effective leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery and demonstrate the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
6. Knowledge of planning, operational processes and systems
7. The post holder will possess excellent team-working and have the ability to motivate and influence others and work using own initiative.
8. Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills and effective time management skills.
9. Working knowledge of basic information technology.

It would be great if you also have

10. Postgraduate expertise within a business management, demonstrating the required expert breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently
11. Further education/evidence of continuous professional development
12. operational management or health service area
13. Effective leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery and demonstrate the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
14. Effective time management skills
15. Basic IT skills

Contract type

Fixed Term (14 Months)

Full time

37 Hours

Please note this is a 14 months fixed term post. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Trauma and Orthopaedics within University Hospital Wishaw.
