Theatre Practitioner - Woman's Theatres (Obs/Gynae/Breast Surgery)

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic, quality focused and patient centred Operating Department Practitioner to join our team in woman’s theatres, supporting our vision of high quality surgical care and interventions.
As a Theatre Practitioner you will work alongside and communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care. You will perform circulating scrub and/or anaesthetic duties and may gain experience and further training in both areas as your registration supports. You will be expected to work shifts over a 24‑hour period and contribute to the on‑call rota.
Main duties of the job
• Provide the correct surgical instruments and materials to the surgeon and be responsible for all surgical instruments, equipment and swabs during the operation.
• Act as a link between the surgical team and other parts of the theatre and hospital, anticipating the requirements of the surgical team and responding effectively to ensure that all required instrumentation and equipment are available at the appropriate time.
• As a registered practitioner you will act as a responsible and compassionate patient advocate, serving the patient’s best interests at all times.
• Work in accordance with the 'Codes of Professional Conduct' (NMC and HCPC) and uphold the required professional standard.

Qualifications & Training
* NMC Registered Nurse, ODP with HCPC with current registration or student pending registration
* Up to date knowledge of professional issues
* Evidence of attendance at relevant mandatory study days
* Evidence of specialised qualifications, competencies in relation to theatre practice
Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience in an acute hospital environment
* Previous experience during training in Theatres
* Demonstrate evidence of research‑based practice
* Demonstrate evidence of departmental management under supervision
