Join Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust as a Clinical Psychologist / CBT Therapist in the Stroke Psychology service at Rotherham General Hospital. This is a Band 7, full‑time or part‑time role that offers the chance to work with a multidisciplinary team, support stroke survivors across the pathway and contribute to national and regional working groups.
Job Summary
This role provides specialised psychological assessment and therapy to stroke survivors, offers consultation to other professionals, supervises junior staff, and leads on service development, audit and research initiatives.
Main Duties
* Deliver evidence‑based assessment and treatment of complex psychological problems in stroke patients (e.g., depression, anxiety, PTSD, emotional lability, cognitive impairment).
* Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to multidisciplinary teams.
* Supervise less experienced psychologists, assistants, trainees and other professionals.
* Allocate clinical work, manage caseload and maintain professional standards aligned with HCPC, BPS and BABCP.
* Lead audit, service evaluation and research projects within the stroke psychology team.
* Contribute to program development and national/regional stroke psychology initiatives.
Teaching, Training and Supervision
* Provide clinical supervision to MDT staff and assistant psychologists.
* Offer training placements to trainee CBT therapists and contribute to post‑qualification teaching.
* Attend supervisor training for DClinPsy courses.
Management, Recruitment and Service Development
* Support governance of psychological practice, develop outcome measures and provide consultation on service improvement.
* Participate in multidisciplinary decision making, manage waiting lists and allocate cases.
* Advise on policy, procedure and professional practice within the Rotherham Stroke Service.
Research and Service Evaluation
* Use evidence‑based research methods to support practice.
* Lead project management, audits and service evaluations.
* Disseminate findings via publications and conferences.
Working Environment
* Provide care in inpatient wards, community settings and home environments.
* Work alone in situations with potential verbal or physical aggression.
Person Specification – Essential
* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or equivalent) with HCPC registration.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
* Strong assessment skills, communication skills, and ability to provide consultation.
* Knowledge of neuropsychology, stroke psychology and evidence‑based interventions.
* Experience supervising and training junior staff.
Person Specification – Desirable
* Knowledge of specialised psychological therapies relevant to stroke.
* Experience of teaching, research or training in a multidisciplinary setting.
* Experience in multicultural contexts.

* Salary: £47,810 to £54,710 per annum (Band 7).
