Purchasing Manager

Key Information:
Role: Purchasing Professional
Location: Office-based in Basingstoke (with occasional travel required to my client's sister site in Wimborne)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
Annual Bonus: 10%About the Role In this pivotal role, you will oversee a £3.5M purchasing budget that plays a key role in maintaining smooth operations across multiple manufacturing businesses.
Your responsibilities will be divided as follows:
Stock Management (Approx. £2.5M): You will focus heavily on managing stock levels, ensuring materials are always available to meet production needs. With supplier contracts already in place, you’ll ensure orders are placed six months in advance to avoid supply issues and maintain consistency. Negotiation is minimal in this area.
Raw Material Procurement (Approx. £1M): You will also source raw materials such as steel, aluminium, and machinery tools for two manufacturing units within the group. While purchasing is central, established supplier agreements mean minimal negotiation is required.Additional responsibilities include:
Supplier Management & Coordination: Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries and efficient material flow.
Procurement Strategy & Reporting: Track spend, oversee processes, and provide clear reporting to align purchasing activities with business needs.
Operational Efficiency: Ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials, optimise costs where possible, and prevent production disruptions.Who We’re Looking For:
Experience: 3 to 5 years in a similar procurement role, ideally within a manufacturing or technical environment.
Skills:
Strong analytical and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
Knowledge of inventory management and lean manufacturing principles.
