Job Title: Telematics Unit Project Design Engineer (JP979) \n Location: Cranfield \n Pay: £30.02 per hour \n \n Working Patten – 3 days in the office / 2 days at home – this may vary. \n Requirement is 8-5 core hours Mon-Thurs – 35 minutes for lunch each day \n Friday 8-1.20pm with 20-minute break \n \n We are seeking a Telematics Unit Project Design Engineer to join a globally recognised automotive company in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role with the potential to last several years.
\n \n Key Responsibilities: \n • Implementation of on-board telematics systems for the clients vehicles manufactured in Europe for global markets. \n • Generation and release of TCU configuration data for European vehicles \n • Managing Tier 1 suppliers to deliver products to Quality, Cost & Timing targets. \n • Coordination of in house and supplier TCU validation to the clients design standards ahead of new software releases \n • Collaboration with Off Board Connected Car test teams (both on board and off board) and customer orientated engineering team to confirm system performance for remote commands \n • Project manager responsible for co-ordinating cross carline projects for both on board and off board connected car and infotainment teams.
\n • Collaboration with connected car design and test teams to define and maintain project development scope, schedule and test plans. \n • Manage and maintain cross carline development planner and ensure project engineers maintain development schedules and meet quality targets through all gateways. \n • Collaboration with Telematics Service Providers, ensuring their development schedules are aligned to the clients’ milestones.
\n • Perform design reviews at key milestones \n • Project milestone to deadlines. \n • Ensure design releases meet schedules. \n • Closure of concerns to required cut offs \n • Manufacturing plant support where required.
\n \n Qualifications & Experience: \n • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline \n • Manufacturing BOM management experience (advantageous) \n • Office 365 tools (including Excel to intermediate/advanced level) \n • Have fluent written and verbal English language capability. \n • Be able to demonstrate and have practical experience in problem solving tools and techniques, and a strong mathematical understanding. \n \n Required \n • Experience with Telematics hardware, systems and knowledge of vehicle connectivity.
