Imaging services at NHS HHP are primarily located at all the main hospital sites in the group (Hull Royal Infirmary, Castle Hill Hospital, Diana Princess of Wales Hospital at Grimsby, Scunthorpe General Hospital, and Goole & District Hospital) and 3 CDCs at Hull, Scunthorpe and Grimsby. Our team of 80 consultant radiologists works across 4 hospital sites and 3 CDCs. Three consultants are set to join the team over the next 6 months and recruitment of seven more is ongoing. A substantial increase in imaging capacity will come with new Community Diagnostic Centres recently opening at Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Hull. The imaging division sits within the Specialist Cancer & Support Services care group led by Dr James Bailey – Chief of Service, Helen Horth – Director of Operations and Wendy Krstenic – Director of Nursing.
The appointee will join a team of nine highly experienced vascular interventional radiologists providing the full spectrum of diagnostic and vascular interventional procedures. The department, based in Hull, currently provides acute on‑call services 24/7 for vascular emergencies across various sites including Scarborough General Hospital, Diana Princess of Wales Hospital Grimsby and York for highly specialised vascular procedures.
The new post has arisen to meet the demand created with a new hybrid theatre in main theatres, where an opportunity is available to work alongside vascular surgeons performing a variety of endovascular procedures. The service offers an opportunity to be part of the stroke thrombectomy service currently running 08:00–18:00 seven days a week. There is also an opportunity to take part in cardiac imaging for colleagues possessing the required cardiac imaging accreditations.
The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion. Made up of two Trusts – Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) – our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world‑class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve. Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff across five main hospital sites, including Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital, Goole & District Hospital (for NLAG) and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital (for HUTH). As teaching hospitals working with Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas – biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
