Job Description
The salary for this role is £56,596 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance).
Onsite working is expected for 4 days each week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role is based at the following site: Whitehaven, Cumbria. The role may require occasional travel to other UK destinations.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with an engineering background to lead high-impact, complex projects within multi-disciplinary teams in the ARC Division (AI and Robotics Collaborations) of the Robotics, Repurposing and Decommissioning Directorate (RRDD). You will drive projects focused on developing robotic and AI systems for nuclear decommissioning, applying cutting-edge technologies to challenging environments to protect people and advance the industry.
You will be responsible for managing complex technical projects across their full lifecycle in line with UKAEA technical management systems and governance processes, including regular reporting. The role involves proactive stakeholder engagement, ensuring projects are delivered on plan and within budget, and that outcomes are fit for purpose and meet stakeholder requirements. If you have experience with document and change control systems, a solid understanding of engineering and technology, and proven ability to manage project financials including budgets, forecasts, actuals, and earned value, we’d like to hear from you.
Key Accountabilities:
* Establish and manage project milestones, deliverables, and resources, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
* Identify and manage project risks, implement mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as needed.
* Maintain project documentation, audit trails, and ensure successful handover with all required deliverables.
* Interface with internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.
* Oversee assigned project resources in a matrix structure and support new business proposal management when required.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
* Professional Project Management qualification
* Successful track record of delivering complex technical projects to specification, time and cost.
* Passion for ensuring that best Project Management practices are adopted, and an effective delivery culture is generated.
* A proactive approach to safety, with good appreciation of UK compliance requirements in design.
* Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make sound economic decisions, coupled with excellent influencing and collaboration skills.
* Familiarity with modern standards in the disciplines of Safety, Health and Environment, and Quality Assurance
