Job Purpose/Scope
The Senior Support Worker will assist and support the Team Leader to ensure that service users receive the individualised support that they need to enjoy a fulfilling life, while ensuring that staff are supported, encouraged and developed to meet their full potential
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
· In consultation and agreement with services users, identify their individual support needs and devise and implement care & support plans which address their needs and aspirations
· To carry out risk assessments as & when necessary due to the changing needs and aspirations of service users
· To report any safeguarding concerns to the Team Leader and/or the Registered Manager
· To encourage and support service users to live as fully & independently as possible
· To supervise and mentor the Support Workers in the day to day operation of the service, advising on problem solving and the handling of challenging situations
· To work with the Team Leader to monitor, audit & make improvement when necessary to ensure that the standards and quality of service are compliant with the requirements of CQC & other statutory & regulatory bodies, and to take part in formal reviews of the service carried out by such
· To ensure that good liaison is maintained with agencies, professionals and services with which CHADD works, to ensure the achievement of service objectives, raise the profile of the service and ensure the good reputation of the association is maintained and enhanced
· To promote the service and ensure that it responds to the needs of and is in harmony with the local community
· To ensure that service users and their families are involved in the development and management of the service
· To promote a positive attitude to complaints and suggestions, and ensure that any complaints are fully investigated and dealt with in line with the Complaints Procedure
· To ensure that service users in site-based settings are supported to maintain their property, ensuring that all necessary repairs & maintenance are reported for processing
· To carry out necessary Health & Safety monitoring as advised by the Asset Manager
· To ensure that Support Workers engage in the supervision & appraisal process, therefore identifying training & development needs so that continuous improvement of staff at all levels takes place
· To coordinate the staff rota in relation to the requirements of the service
· To assist with the onboarding of new staff to the team in liaison with the Team Leader
· To inform the Team Leader of any performance and conduct issues within the staff team
· To promote a culture of co-operative and cohesive team spirit where open and honest communication, respect, good practice and service user focus is key
· To assist with the day to day procurement and financial transactions of the service and assist with the monitoring of such to ensure the resources of the association safeguarded and used efficiently
· To raise standards of service delivery and seek opportunities to extend those services through active involvement in relevant forums and networking
· To assist in the change management process to achieve improved outcomes for service users and staff
· To work with other teams to achieve a consistent service across all CHADD projects and a unity of purpose and vision
Other
· To act at all times within the framework of the vision, mission and aims of the association and in accordance with its policies, procedures and Code of Conduct
· To take an active part in such meetings as may be required including those taking place outside of normal working hours and to prepare and present reports and presentations as required
· To deputise for the Team Leader as required
· To participate in on-call duties as required
· To actively engage in supervision with line manager, identify development needs and attend training activities as required
· To carry out such duties as may be required for the effective operation of the service, in agreement with Head of Care and the Chief Executive
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £14.15 per hour
Expected hours: 36 per week
