An exciting opportunity has arisen within CUH's CT scanning department for a full time position as a Clinical Support Worker.

The post is full time, 37.5 hours/week. Your working hours will initially be 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday where you will work as part of the busy and highly specialised CT team. The role will then be developed further to include evenings, early starts and weekends and also work at our off-site CT Scanning unit at the Granta Medical Practice in Sawston.


Main duties of the job

Working as part of a small team of Clinical Support Workers your main duties will include:

Welcoming patients, relatives and other staff to the department whilst providing a friendly and safe environment ensuring privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.

You will assist in placing and removing cannulas from patients for examinations.

Ensure that the clinical area is maintained to comply with infection control policies (e.g. disposals of sharps bins, clinical waste and infectious linen)

You will assist the Radiographers and Radiologists in providing an effective service that includes assisting during examinations, manual handling and patient preparation.

* or the Trust has agreed that they will Sponsor you as a Skilled Worker and you will complete your studies within 3 months of the anticipated start date of employment

Qualifications

* Good basic general education


Experience

* Experience in a customer focused environment
* Experience of working with the general public in a hospital setting


Knowledge

* Motivated and able to learn new skills and technology
* A sound knowledge of hospital procedures
* Working knowledge of EPIC systems
* Working knowledge of radiation rules and regulations


Skills

* Courteous telephone and 1:1 manner
* The ability to work as a team member and use own initiative
* Ability to push patients in beds and chairs and be able to assist in transfer of patients
* Able to move heavy radiation equipment
* Good interpersonal and effective communication skills
* Able to read radioactive related documents and SOPs
* Able to visually inspect displays on equipment monitors
* Able to record legible information onto regulatory required documentsWork as an effective and responsible member of the multidisciplinary team
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a demanding workload in order to provide quality care to patients
